We are pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Eastern Region Program. Part of the project includes the following program.
Stating Your Case
Using Primary Sources to Develop Reading, Thinking, and Writing Skills 
This 3-part series provides teachers with concrete ways to connect primary sources to the Common Core.  The first two day-long sessions will be a combination of hands-on learning and independent work time. The final after-school session will be a sharing of teacher projects.  Teachers who participate in all three sessions and complete a primary source writing task for students will receive a $150 stipend.

Session 1 (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.): Finding primary sources at the Library of Congress and connecting thinking skills to primary source analysis.

Session 2 (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.): Developing tasks that lead to informational, explanatory, or argumentation writing.
Session 3 (4:00 – 5:30 p.m.): Sharing projects.

December 8, February 2, May 4: Southeast Learning Collaborative, Dummerston, VT

Registration Fee 
$150 for all three sessions; 1 graduate credit from Castleton State College is available for an additional $175. Scholarships are available for this program.
