Education for Citizenship

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG TEACHER INSTITUTE

June 26 - July 1, 2008

Immerse yourself in 18th-century Virginia as we identify and analyze significant seventeenth- and eighteenth-century economic, political, and social events that led to independence; explore how interactions among Native Americans, Europeans, and Africans shaped and defined the American character; and examine the challenges facing our Founding Fathers as they developed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Throughout the week you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with noted historians, meet character interpreters, and take part in reenactments of eighteenth-century events.
